Thomas F. Vail, DPM, ABFAS is a highly trained podiatric physician and board-certified surgeon who uses his experience, exceptional training, and state-of-the-art technology to treat a myriad of foot and ankle ailments. He believes strongly in patient education, and working together to produce the best outcomes.
Step Alive Foot & Ankle Center offers many services that are unavailable at other practices in town. Dr. Vail uses many non-invasive techniques and technologies such as laser treatment for fungal toenails, shockwave therapy for painful and inflammatory conditions, and a digital foot scanner with superior technology to create custom orthotics and recommend proper footwear.
Dr. Vail is also able to perform any necessary surgeries—such as those to correct bunions, hammertoes, heel spurs and neuromas—on an out-patient basis. He offers comprehensive diabetic foot and wound care for his patients as well!

I very much appreciate that Dr. Vail was able to see me the same day I called! I had just had a TKR several days before and the problem I developed with my foot left me immobile! He had me back up on my feet that day and worked with my physical therapist to incorporate a therapy schedule that would work well with my knee therapy! Dr. Vail and his entire staff never fall short of providing the very best professional care in this area. They go above and beyond to help you get back to normal!

I had heel pain for several months and saw my primary care doctor who sent me to an Orthopedic institution and they wanted to do surgery right away. I heard about PRP injections and the institution said 'they don't work'. I saw Dr. Vail after reading about PRP on his website and had it done. I have been pain free for over 5 years and am so thankful to him and his staff. He has a beautiful office and Dr. Vail has a great sense of humor that puts me at ease!

I have always been treated by Dr. Vail, Joe and the staff well and professionally. I am able to order shoes through Joe and that is great. I always enjoy going to the offices and seeing what new charming scene Joe has created on the foyer.
